Hello everyone!
So for the rest of India the past couple of days have been all about cheering for the #MenInBlue and staying glued to the TV. Twitter and Instagram going bonkers with trending hashtags like#Wewontgiveitback. But, for us, the fashion addicts; this week has been all about the;oh yes, you've guessed it right, Lakme Fashion Week 2015.
#shilpareddy #SVA #RidhiMehra #PapaDontPreach #AnushreeReddy #ShivanandNaresh #AnamikaKhanna and so on were the hashtags that the fashion clan has overused this summer. The show has come to an end and has left everyone raving about the amazing collections that were put out.
This has by far been one of my favorite fashion weeks and one of the main factors for this was that we could find collections insipred by various exotic locations; all the way from Russia to Turkey. Alongside we could also find loads of quintessential Indian drapes and patterns and this made for a perfect balance of both Local and International fashions; it has been a perfect juxtapose. There were heavy emebellished lehengas by Anushree Reddy to the chic swimwear by Shivan and Naresh. The whole season left me head over heels in love!
I now take the liberty of showcasing some of my favorite FIVE collections from the show along with why they made it to the list. Go on, sit back, and treat your eyes!
S/S 15 BY SHUBIKA OF PAPA DON'T PREACH

This collection was cheerful, bright, flirty, and spelled FUN. It was every bit summery with a touch of oomph. The colors ranged from mints and pastel greens to roses, peaches and powder pinks. There was adequate amount of gold in a few ensembles to give that Diva like look. The range comprised of skirts, frilly dresses, jumpers, crop tops and embellised jackets.
The most fun part of this collection were the "Floof" earrings which debuted on the stage. These are limited edition and are up for sale on the Papadontpreach website. Well, if you can carry them of with elan, then these are meant fo you. View collection here
THE PALACE OF MIRRORS-BY PAYAL SINGHAL

Mirrors, mirrors and more of mirrors; and I couldn't be more happy!
Beiges, whites, light peaches and a whole lot of mirrorwork was this collections theme.
It was Indian and yet had an international appeal to it, especially the beautifully tailored dhoti pants. It made excellent use of sheer net and organza in the form of capes, ponchos, and duppatas. The white croptops with navy prints were a treat to the eye and so was the ethereal lehenga worn by the Showstopper for the collection- actress Tamanna Bhatia.
FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE- BY NEHA AGARWAL

Russian motifs, embroidered flower borders, Big prints, Sheer ponchos and a quirky yet every bit elegant sense of style; what else could one ask for in this beautiful collection by Neha agarwal. I loved their printed croptops paired with bright and flowy skirts. The colors ranged from bright yellows and blues to sombre peaches and navy; leaving no colorzone out. This was one collection that managed to have both elegant patterns with youthful and quirky prints.
RRISO- BY SONU DHARNIDHARKA

This collection has a very Greek/ Egyptian vibe to it. The flowy dresses remind us of the robes native to Greek; whereas, the colors, fit and accesories take us to ancient egypt.
The colors mostly used were white and gold apart from the occasional beiges, yellows and light peaches. The patterns though flowy had an amazing fit and the emebellishments had me awe-struck. They were the X-Factor of the dresses. Apart from the flowy dresses the range comprised of foor length skirts, jackets and knee length dressses.
THE ROYAL COURTYARD- BY ANUSHREE REDDY

I have saved the best for the last! Yes, the Royal courtyard by Anushree reddy has been my favourite collection of all. Partly, because being a typical Indian girl I am borne to love the flared, emebellised and one of a kind lehengas! (And also since Anushree is a Hyderabadi and being a fellow Hyderabadi I pledge my support to her.) Jokes apart she has always been my favourite at the fashion week, ever since i spotted those lovely floral lehengas she is so famous for i couldn't stop raving. This collection too does justice to my expectations and though the collection still comprises of the Pinks, it has a fair share of yellows, reds , ashes and peaches. The showstopper for the season was Illeans D' cruz and it's her second time for Anushree and this lehenga too is as pretty as the first one that she wore. The collection truly lives up to its name and is every bit Royal. I absolutely love the yellow and baby pink lehenga as the color combination is so rare, that I haven't seen it in Indian attires at all.
Apart from these there are several other collections too which are praise-worthy. Do check out all of them in my FASHION WEEK GALLERY
That'll be all for now
Until next time,
Much love,
xoxo
